I am very confident that Garin will manage to win this match mostly because in this tournament he simply outplayed all of his opponents. He deafeated Bahamonde 6-2, 6-4, Rodriguez Taverna 6-0, 6-2 and Buchhass 6-1, 6-3. Garin played a lot of clay court matches this year and he has 62 wins and 25 losses on this surface in 2014.




Andreas Molteni defeated Villanueva 6-0, 7-6(5), Duran 6-1, 6-2 and Coria 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-0. Though I was impressed by his easy win against Duran in his last match he really was lucky in m opinion. I say this because in his last match Coria was kind of in control of that match when so physical issues occurred and his performance went completely downwards after that.


I think Garin's aggressive style of play will bother Molteni a lot and even though he will force the long exchanges he eventually will find himself overpowered and he won't be able to stay toe to toe with his opponent.


I think the odds are very good for Garin and I believe that if he plays like he did in his last matches he will win this.

Everton vs Hull

Everton had quite a nice performance last weekend, but didn’t manage to stay undefeated away to Tottenham in their 2:1 narrow loss. They took the lead in 15th minute with a goal from Mirallas, while the hosts replied well with two goals till the halftime (21st minute Eriksen and 45th Soldado).

However, it has to be said that the visiting side had much more of the ball possession and had quite fair amount of goalscoring chances, actually deserving a draw in that game. Leverkusen – Schalke

The match of the day in Bundesliga will see Leverkusen host Schalke, with Bayer being considered a 1.70 odds favorite by the bookmakers.


Leverkusen (6th place) played a fantastic match midweek in the Champions League, routing a strong Zenit side 2-0, but they will have to replicate the same form in Bundesliga, something they failed to do recently. Leverkusen has 3 draws in a row in the league and their defense is a real issue, as Bayer allows almost 2 goals per game in average – the offense can compensate only to a certain point.

Schalke (10th place) will be buoyed by a 4-3 win at home to Sporting midweek, even though they were 3-1 up at some point and Sporting had a player sent off in the first half. The visitors are playing very similar football to Leverkusen, attacking with pace and dynamism, but suffering at the back. Unlike Leverkusen however, Schalke is on a good run in Germany, winning 3 of the last 4 games to make up for a poor start.


Team news: Rolfes and Castro are out for Leverkusen. Schalke will again miss Kolasinac, Farfan, Giefer and Santana, with Matip being a question mark for this game. I reckon team news will not have too much of an influence on this clash (if any).

The logical tip here would be on goals, but the odds are low and I would not be shocked if the two will adopt a more careful approach, as this is a crucial game. I do expect goals, but the best bet value-wise is a draw. Leverkusen finished 50% of their Bundesliga games this season with a draw and I`m not sure if they have the form and strength to defeat a good, hungry Schalke side. Expect some nice, fast paced football with little separating these two sides and a draw being a real possibility. Toulouse FC – RC Lens

Toulouse FC – RC Lens / Ligue 1 – The first match in the 11th round of the French Ligue 1 brings us the ninth Toulouse and the newcomer Lens, which is currently in last place, with a backlog of six points comparing to their next opponents. Let us add that these two teams last met four years ago, also in Ligue 1, and then Toulouse celebrated at home with 1-0, while it was 1-1 on their own field. Begins: 24.10.2014 – 20:30 CET

That is why Toulouse now expects three points at home, especially since they are in much better shape than the team Lens at the moment. However, last weekend coach Casanova’s players were defeated by the leading Marseille with 2-0 away, but before that they had an excellent series of two wins and as many draws, which led to the top of the table. But on the other hand, it is somewhat concerning that both these two draws happened at home, so now they must show a much better game if they want to come to a full loot.

Of course, their fans expect that, because they had a much easier opponent than in the previous two matches, but the situation with their team is much better after they central defender Grigore and left-back Sylla are recovered and ready to play. Specifically, they should now get a chance from the first minute instead of Moubandje or Ninkov, while their attack will still mostly depend on duo Ben Yedder-Braithwaite. As for their absences, only the injured defensive players Spajic and Tisserand and midfielder Didot are still out of action.

Unlike Toulouse, Lens is currently in a big crisis, so they in the last six rounds of Ligue 1 recorded four defeats and one draw, and scored only two goals. Of course this has all led to their decline on the bottom of the table, which consequently means that that they are going to Toulouse with very little self-confidence, while their situation is much more difficult because their standard defender Gbamin and midfielder Lemoigne received red cards last weekend’s red cards.

Specifically, coach Kombouare’s players entered this match with maybe too much enthusiasm, so this backfired, because despite those two suspensions, they were finally defeated with 3-1. When we add to that that they cannot count on the central defender Kantaria and midfielder Cyprien due to injuries, then it certainly raises the question how this already limited team intends to reach a positive result in Toulouse.

Steaua Bucharest and Rio Ave will square off at the National Arena tonight in a match counting for the Europa league Group J. Steaua won`t count on too many fans today, but it`s well known that the hosts perform well at home without supporters, as they don`t have much of an impact.

AS Monaco hosts Benfica in the 3rd match day of the Champions League Group C. Monaco is a surprise factor in this group with 4 points in two games … 1-0 vs. Leverkusen and 0-0 at Zenit. We all know Monaco lost the main players this summer (Falcao, James, etc.) and that the Russian owner is not investing big bucks any more but the results in UCL were great … based on a defensive game Monaco is now in a position to qualify (even if the wn vs. Leverkusen was one of the luckiest results you can get in football).

Monaco also in good shape in the league, in last 2 rounds made 1-1 draw in Paris with PSG and won 2-0 vs. Evian. For this game Berbatov and Lopez are out for Monaco.

Benfica also lost some key players in the summer but unlike Monaco they are the disappointment of this group so far … zero points, lost 0-2 vs. Zenit and 1-3 at Leverkusen. But in Portugal Benfica is doing better … first place with 6 wins and 1 draw in 7 matches, 19-4 goal difference. For today Jonas will not play for Benfica and Silvio is questionable.

I view this as a very tight and close game and I don’t think my analysis is wrong. There is little separating these teams and the stakes are also high … specially for Benfica a defeat would be a disaster. Lyon has the best offense on home court in the entire League with 11 goals scored and was very dominant in the last three outings at Stade Gerland … for this game Lyon misses Fofana and Grenier. Other injury worries are Benzia and Dabo who are both questionable.


Montpellier has the same number of points as Lyon and is only one place below in the standings … Montpellier was a good away team so far this season and has the best defensive record on the road in Ligue 1, only 2 goals allowed! Last round Montpellier finished in a 1-1 draw at Nice. For the visitors today there are no sure absentees, but Deplagne and Saihi are questionable.

Lyon confirms they are a streaky team alternating horrible periods with great runs … just like they did last year. You seem to never know what to expect from Lyon, but Montpellier are a very trustworthy team with good tactical consistency and an overall consistent string of results – they lost three matches this season, all 0-1, very close … and only 1 away. Odds of 1.75 for Lyon win are a high risk and I think the road-specialists at Montpellier will produce an upset today. Their defense is very good and Lyon will not find it so easy to score as in last home matches. Lithuania – Slovenia /  European Championship qualifications – This second Sunday’s duel in Group E of qualifications for EURO 2016 also brings us a showdown between two teams that have won six, or three points, after the first two rounds, but it should also be noted that Lithuania has reached that maximum effect thanks to their much lighter schedule than the Slovenes, which in turn have a score of one win and one defeat. Let us add that these two teams were together in a group only in qualifications for EURO 1996, and then Lithuania celebrated on both occasions. Begins: 12.10.2014 – 20:45 CET

In fact, Switzerland was possibly too strong, but they definitely had to do better against Iceland, Albania, Norway and Cyprus. Eventually they recorded five wins and five losses, and after that they played four friendly matches, again without draws.

And when it was already certain that this is what will happen a month ago away match against Estonia, the host team has used a negligence of Slovenia’s defence and recorded victory of 1-0. Group is very easy with Romania, Greece, Finland and Hungary and Northern Ireland already beat Hungary away … they also have a good generation of players … everybody playing in England, some Premier League players also.

Hosts are big favorites vs. Faroe at odds 1.25 but they have to be wary of the fact that Faroe is not so easy to beat anymore … and also of their own shortcomings, because Northern Ireland rarely does well when it is a favorite. But Northern Ireland’s old statistics do not count for much as there is a totally different situation and atmosphere ahead of this match. Top player Evans from Manchester United will not play for the hosts today.

Faroe lost with a clear 1-3 result vs. Finland in first game. it is true that visitors have improved in the last years and it’s not so easy to put goals past them.
